Already on January 22, the drama around UFC 270 marks the undisputed fight for the UFC heavyweight title between Francis Nganna and Ciryl Gane. He finally decided to discuss some of it.
As teammates Ngannou and Gane separated even more after a video appeared on UFC 268 where Ngannou ignored Gane, the interim heavyweight champion, as well as his former coach Fernando Lopez and Nassourdine Imavov.
Gane, who appeared in The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, feels disappointed by Ngannou’s recent actions and felt that the insults were useless.
“That’s wrong, that’s it,” Gane said through MMA Fighting. “For me, it was just for Fernando Lopez, but it was a bit.” [of] shame because you have your future opponent, you have your former sparring partner, [and] also for Nassourdine Imavov. “
Imavov, mentioned by Gane, made his MMA debut in 2016. His last match came at UFC 268 this November, where he defeated Edmen Shahbazyan through TKO. Imavov was one of Ngannou’s main sparring partners when he was at the MMA Factory. Tensions escalated when Ngannou mistaken Imavov’s name in a recent interview, which led to Lopez calls him on social networks.
So why is there bad blood?
Ngannou and Lopez were once roommates when Ngannou trained at the MMA Factory in 2013-2018, where Lopez was the head coach.
The two separated for many reasons, one of which was that Ngannou said Lopez wanted to focus on him, the warrior, which led to Ngannou’s move to Xtreme Couture in 2018.
Ngannou unsuccessfully fought for the UFC heavyweight title in 2018, but this March he defeated Stipe Miocice in retaliation to win the title.
Ngannou’s success after leaving the MMA Factory and Lopez’s inability to explain the breakup without looking bitter or jealous, according to Ngannou, are currently fueling excitement.
Add another log to the fire when footage of Ngannou and Ganea’s training in what Ngannou said were published to look bad and a “manipulation game” was published as further proof of why there is bad blood between the two sides.

Yet Gane believes that Ngannou’s avoidance was a bad move.
“Nassourdine Imavov has done a lot of matches for Francis Ngannou, perhaps the biggest match he has had in his career,” Gane said. “So that’s why we were a little ashamed.” He just won his fight at Madison Square Garden. That’s why it was a bit of a shame, that’s why it was a little bad for me. “
On his MMA debut in 2018, Gane joined the UFC in 2019. Gane is up 7-0 and defeated Derrick Lewis for an interim title in August. Gane tries to overlook all the other dramas around his camp and Ngannou heading for the title fight.
UFC 270 will be held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on January 22. The main event will be a duel of the trilogy between UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moren and Deiveson Figueiredo.
