Chiefs vs. Broncos live scores, updates, highlights from Saturday’s NFL game

The Chiefs will fight the Broncos on Saturday for potential top players in the AFC playoffs.

Winning in Denver will allow Kansas City to win no worse than the No. 2 playoff in the AFC. A win against the Broncos – with Sunday’s defeat of the Titans to the Texans – would secure Kansas City first place. Although the Broncos are eliminated from the post-season dispute, quarterback Drew Lock will try to help Denver finish the season by interrupting a series of three losses.

The Chiefs last played with the Broncos at home in Week 8 to secure Kansas City 8-4 in a 22-9 win. Although Patrick Mahomes had the advantage of the home field, he fought Denver, finishing 15 of 29 passes for 184 yards and intercepting the intervention. He went on to win the Chiefs series and the following week completed 20 of 24 passes for 258 yards with two touchdowns against the Raiders.

During a 34:31 loss to Kansas City with the Bengals last week, Mahomes avoided a throw-in and finished 26 passes for 259 yards with two touchdowns. In the second half, however, he threw several incomplete passes, which limited the Chiefs to field goals, allowing Cincinnati to return home for victory.

The Mahomes will be challenged to defend Denver. During their last Broncos encounter, Kansas City held only the first 15 kills with 178 yards around and 89 yards in a hurry. On the other hand, Lock will try to win his first victory as a starter this season. After Teddy Bridgewater was taken off the field with a head injury during a Broncos 15-10 defeat with the Bengals in week 15, he scored a touchdown on his first run of the game. He last completed 18 of 25 passes for 245 yards with a touchdown during a 34-13 loss to the Chargers in week 17.
