Aston Martin was the first to announce a launch date

Aston Martin has announced that it will present its new AMR22 for the upcoming Formula 1 season on February 10.

The British team is the first to reveal its start date in F1 as it prepares for its second grid race, which begins in Bahrain on March 20.

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll remain partners in an unchanged line-up, with Otmar Szafnauer leaving the team boss after the team’s leadership.

Aston Martin placed seventh in the Constructors’ Cup under Lawrence Stroll in 2021 and will strive to build on that with his new F1-compliant car.

As for the new team boss, Aston Martin said in a recent statement that Szafnauer’s former role “will be managed within the team leader until a replacement is appointed.”

Szafnauer became team leader in 2018 after Silverstone-based clothing was taken over by a consortium led by Stroll, who originally joined what was known as Force India in 2009.

The team’s statement did not state the reason for the 57-year-old’s departure, but only comes the day after the interview, in which he enthusiastically spoke about the team’s prospects for 2022.

Testing for the new season begins in Barcelona on February 23.
