Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh (somehow, but not really) deals with NFL coaching rumors

NFL coaching rumors are flying after a busy Black Monday, and Jim Harbaugh has found his name at the center of many conversations.

Harbaugh became a hot coach again after bringing Michigan to an overall record of 12-2 and a College Football Playoff in 2021. Several reports indicated that the 58-year-old was interested in jumping into the NFL and would at least enjoy the offers, but Harbaugh he did not express speculation directly – until Wednesday.

During a Zoom call with reporters ahead of the Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year awards ceremony, Harbaugh, who coached the 49ers in 2011-14, was asked if his name spread in rumors.

“It’s a little nicer this year compared to last year’s rumors,” Harbaugh said.

Well, that makes everything clear!

Harbaugh is definitely right, because he had a lot of Michigan fans who demanded a new coach after the Wolverines finished 2: 4 in 2020 in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Harbaugh finally managed to get over the hump in 2021 and won his first victory against the state of Ohio and the Big Ten Championship.

Now that there are six NFL openings (seven unless the Raiders give Rich Bisacci a steady job) and Harbaugh’s stock at an all-time high, will he really leave his alma mater? In a separate interview with Sports Radio 610 in HoustonHarbaugh did not do much to silence the rumors, only adding that he would spend some time with his family before the recruitment season started at full speed.

“Maybe tomorrow we’ll find some family-related things. We just have to enjoy these days with our family, because we’re going to recruit in the next few days,” Harbaugh said. “It’s been a bit of the last few days spent with my family and I couldn’t have imagined a better place.”

It certainly sounds like he will enjoy this process a little longer.
