How Kate Middleton Celebrates Her Big Birthday: The Duchess of Cambridge is spending her 40th birthday enjoying a small meeting at Anmer Hall in Norfolk – as it turns out, the bells of Westminster Abbey will NOT ring for Covid

Today, the Duchess of Cambridge is celebrating her 40th birthday – but she will enjoy it in rural Norfolk as the ongoing pandemic makes the cards even worse.

The Duchess reportedly has a more intimate relationship only with friends and family at the Cambridge house, Amner Hall, due to the continuing risk of the Omicron variant.

However, according to a source who claimed that the Duchess was not ‘flashy’, Kate would probably not be upset about this year’s smaller celebrations.

They said: “Unobtrusive celebrations will probably be held for the Duchess. She still didn’t want anything flashy – that’s exactly her business – but especially given the current climate, anything is likely to go down. ”

In addition to a small meeting, the Duchess is about to omit the royal birthday tradition.

The birthdays of senior members of the royal family used to be marked by the ringing of bells at Westminster Abbey, but the practice was halted in April 2020 due to a pandemic and changes were made when the bells were reopened last September.

In an effort to save money, the bells will now ring only on the Queen and Prince of Wales’ birthday.

After the decision was made, a spokesman for Westminster Abbey said Hello: “Abbey bells can be heard before church services and church holidays. The bells have also traditionally been heard on the occasion of the birthdays of older members of the royal family.

“Due to the financial problems posed to the abbey by the Covid-19 pandemic, and in consultation with Buckingham Palace, the bells will now only ring for the birthday of HM Queen and HRH Prince of Wales.”

However, the Duchess’s birthday was celebrated in style at Kensington Palace, which published three new remarkable portraits of Kate, taken by Italian fashion photographer Paolo Roversi in Kew Gardens.

Speaking about the pictures, a source from the palace said: “You can see three aspects of personality from the three photos.

“It has a royal side – as you can see in the classic shot, where it looks into the distance; in a red dress is a more casual image of a modern woman aged 40; and then there’s the close-up that offers a more intimate perspective. ”
