The Iola-Scandinavia area offers boundless recreation opportunities and attractions not to be missed.
These include:

IOLA WINTER CARNIVAL - First weekend in February.  Ski Jumping, Cross Country Skiing, Badger State Games, Ice Sculpting, Fish Derby, Norwegian Dinner including Lutefisk, Lefse, Norwegian Meatballs and all the trimmings.  For more information go to www.iolawintersportsclub.com . IOLA COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR - April - Iola Community Fitness and Aquatic Center. This year's event will feature a variety of health care professionals.  The Iola Lions and Waupaca Riverside Hospital will sponsor PSA, Lipid Panel (cholesterol testing) and Blood Sugar testing for a small fee.  Tetanus shots offered by Theda Care Physicians. The Iola Scandinavia LEO Club's Pancake breakfast will be held from 7:30a.m.-10:30a.m.  Pancakes with delicious toppings, coffee, and fruit will be available for purchase.

CITY WIDE RUMMAGE - Sponsored by the Iola Lioness, Will be held the second Saturday of May.  For additional information contact Lioness Sherry at (715) 445 3482.

WORS - Wisconsin Off Road Series - America's Largest Mountain Bike racing series will be held in the first Sunday in May.  The Iola Winter Sports Club hosts the event at their location on Highway MM north of Iola.  The Iola Bumb and Jump course offers a great place to race or spectate an incredible race.  For additional information http://www.wors.org/ or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. ANNUAL ROAST PORK DINNER - Scandinavia Volunteer Fire Department to hold their Annual Roast Pork Dinner on the third Sunday in May at Ellison Park serving 11 am until 2 pm.  Dinners include 1/2 chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll and dessert - $6.50 per plate. Refreshments and drive thru service available. Advance tickets available at:  Premier Community Bank, Tomorrow Valley Co-Op Scandinavia, Silver Lake Lanes, Little Norway or any Scandinavia Firefighter.

IOLA GARDEN CLUB - The Iola Garden Club marks its 75th year of serving the community in 2010.The club was founded in March 1936. Members designated the rose as the club flower and chose the motto: "A garden - where ill thoughts die and good are born." The club was committed to caring for the planters at the village parks and to carrying out its goals of  • Stimulateing a knowledge and love of gardening • aiding in the protection of native plants and birds • creating interest in the development of home grounds • encouraging and promoting civic beautification. IOLA HISTORICAL SOCIETY STRAWBERRY FEST - Fourth Sunday in June: Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy the days of yesteryear while enjoying strawberry shortcake at the Iola Historical Society grounds.  Just West of Main Street on Depot Street.  The Iola Historical Society is also raising funds for another historical building.  Stop in and see the antique fire station designed after the original facility on State street in Iola.  Three donated fire apparatus' are housed in the new building.

SPECTACULAR FIREWORKS DISPLAY - Don't miss the awesome display of Fireworks on July 2nd.  Purchase your raffle tickets now for a chance to win more than $3,000.00 in cash prizes. Limited ticket sales.

IOLA OLD CAR SHOW and SWAP MEET - Midwest's largest Old Car Show. Feature exhibit for July 8-11, 2010 will be "Sensational Sixties", plus other show cars 1979 and older totaling close to 2,200 vehciles are classified as Blue Ribbon, Pre-War, Post-War and Modified. 4,428 swap meet spaces; 1,000 spaces for car corral 1995 and older. Camping is available on the grounds plus great food. Admission: Daily $8.00, Weekend $15.00. Age 10 and under free. Sunday is free and this is our wrap-up day. SCANDINAVIA CORN ROAST - 42nd Annual - August 6-7-8, 2010 - Great Family Event. All weekend long enjoy carnival rides and concessions, great food and refreshments, great live musical entertainment for all genres, Saturday parade and ball games and on Sunday the Corn Roast, Pie Social and Tractor Pull! Saturday & Sunday visit the historic Knoph Cabin & Jole Barbershop museums on the grounds. Sunday is the only day we serve corn. IOLA VINTAGE MILITARY AND GUN SHOW WITH VINTAGE TRACTORS AND EQUIPMENT - Show vehicles include military vehicles, military equipment, tractors, machines and professional vehicle exhibit. Battle reenactments - World War II and Vietnam era with pyrotechnics, living history encampments. Swap meet, parades of vehicles and camping available. Entertainment - USO type show on Saturday. LUTEFISK SUPPER - NORTHLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH - October 16, 2010: The deep rooted Scandinavian heritage lives on with the Northland Lutheran Church's annual Lutefisk Supper. The celebration began in the fall of 1915 and has only missed 2 years, one because of World War I and the scarcity of potatoes and one because of the flu epidemic. Be sure to come enjoy the menu of lutefisk, lefse, meatballs and gravy, mashed potatoes, buttered carrots, coleslaw, cranberries, and the famous Norwegian pastries. Cost is $14 for adults and chidlren 4-12 $4.

IOLA LIONESS CHRISTMAS PARADE - and Santa's Visit: First Saturday in December, 10:00 a.m. This event is certain to get you in the mood for holidays.  Visit with Santa following the parade at the Library. The Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative will be collecting Toys for Tots at various location.  Items can be donated the day of the parade.  For more information check out the Iola Village Library's website at www.owls.lib.wi.us/ivl/.

BICYCLING – The Iola-Scandinavia has miles and miles of scenic, lightly-traveled back roads plus trailhead access in Scandinavia to the Tomorrow River State Trail, which extends west to Plover, Wisconsin and east to Manawa (www.co.portage.wi.us/parks/666/Trail%20Map%20Flyer.htm). Casual Monday and Wednesday night bike rides, and occasional longer weekend rides, are hosted by local members of the Heartland Bike Club and Nordic Ski Club (http://www.heartlandclub.org/). IOLA MILLS - A beautifully restored 19th century grist and sawmill. Currently under restoration not open to the public.  For more information contact Tom & Melody Fucik @ (920)733-8480.

IOLA HISTORICAL SOCIETY - Check out the Train Depot, Caboose, Old School House, Log Cabin and Helvetia Town Hall.  Check out the latest project!  The 1901 fire station replica will be a great addition to historical society.  The historical society is currently working to raise $160,000 the projected construction cost.  See the pictures labeled Iola Historical Society.  A sure sign of spring is activity at the Iola Historical Society.  Meetings resume in March and continue through October.   Meeting are held the last Monday of the month at 7:30. SILVER LAKE LANES- Located in Scandinavia this place has it all.  Bowling is a great recreational hobby for young and old alike.  League and tournaments as well as casual bowling is just down the street

SNOWMOBILING - Miles of groomed trails will lead you anywhere in the county!  There are several local clubs that take great pride in maintaining trails in the area.
